today i pee'd in a hole in the ground

today one of rick's coworkers offered to take us around the island to show us some spots we may want to visit in the future. kinda a rainy day today, not so great for sight seeing but good for this. interesting points of this trip for me were as follows:

many of the parks that have playgrounds also have work out equipment on them so adults can work out while the kids play. why this has not caught on in other areas, i dont know. i think its fantastic.

there is a difference between a hotel and a motel here which is similiar to home but not exactly. motels are rented by the hour, but according to rick's friend, its not seedy. because in korean culture so many members of the extended family live together in close quarters, the husband and wife rarely have a chance at privacy in their own home. so, they rent these rooms by the hour, and by the decor apparently, to spend a little quality time.

some of the best beaches are the rock beaches which are as it sounds but it is considered reflexology to walk or lay on these smaller rocks. suppose to be fantastic.
many gas stations, and apparently other places, dont have toilets but this sideways, laying down urinal in the ground that you can actually flush to go to the bathroom in. this is the woman's room. easier than you would think ladies , especially when wearing a skirt.

even koreans know the detroit tigers rock....

  3. Okay, here's all the riveting news from Team Stark. Just to keep you "in the know".

Lynn: Fighting hard through a cacophony of soccer practices and games, dentist and ortho appointments, and mandatory all-staff church meetings. She is lobbying hard for a blackberry or an iphone to more easily manage the family calendar. Also simmering somewhat over how and where to find clothes that will fit a 5-foot-tall 9 year-old that don't make her look like a harlot. Continues to scratch head at blossoming "outdoorsman" husband is becoming.

Chloe: Varying degrees of interest in soccer. At any time might be found paying attention or navel-gazing while on the field. Focused on re-accessorizing her newly-repainted room. Started running with Dad, and just yesterday ran 1.6 miles without stopping-- her longest run yet! Dad is extremely proud. Just lost the latest pet-- two mini crabs-- to death of unknown origin. Showed no real signs of compassion. But they're crabs. Difficult for anyone to attach emotionally to crustaceans.

Jack: Showing aptitude and high interest in soccer. Also really doing well in the pool and will start swimming lessons after soccer. Video game proficiency still off the charts, although mom and dad trying to encourage interest in reading and writing. Misses Ethan!

Dad: Bought a used bow and is planning a hunt later this month. Recent projects include painting bedrooms, recovering chairs, building a slot car table and some drywall repair work. Managed donation of 400 tons of toys and household goods to purple heart. Currently listening to Montgomery Gentry several times daily and loving them.

    Take care! Miss you guys!

  4. i think you should suggest lynn take up sewing to offset the price of the blackberry/iphone and solve two problems. since i am pretty sure my dtr will also be of the same stature, i will sew with her, drink wine, and eat sticky rice, because i now love sticky rice. we were loving "thats not my name" from the sanity sampler and now we moved on to an obsession with the song "jolene". thank god you included some def leppard on the cd or i think rick would be bored. and by the way, ethan misses jack too.
